The Locarno Film Festival is an international festival held in Locarno, Switzerland, since 1946. It is one of the longest-running film festivals. Its first edition was held on August 23rd 1946 at the Grand Hotel of Locarno, screening O sole mio by Giacomo Gentilomo.
The 2020 edition should have been held from August 5th to 15th. However, this 73th edition won’t be in physical form: it will be named Locarno 2020 – For The Future of Films with dates still to be announced.
The current artistic director is Lili Hinstin, starting from 2018.
