The Sydney Film Festival is held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was founded in 1947 connected with the annual meeting of the Australian Council of Film Societies.
In 1958 it started to attract international guests and, in 1959 and 1960 it expanded. It was afflicted by censorship difficulties from mid 1960s to 1971.
The 2020 edition has been canceled. It was supposed to be held from June 3rd to 14th.
The current artistic director is Carole Campbell.
