The Toronto International Film Festival is held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada since 1976 when it was founded.

It was launched as the Toronto Festival of Festivals, collecting the best films from other festivals. Its founders are Bill Marshall, Dusty Cohl, and Henk Van der Kolk. It opened on October 18th 1976 and the first edition lasted until October 24th.

The 2019 edition was held from September 5th to 15th. The 2020 dates are scheduled to be from September 10th to 20th.
