Blackheads is a stop motion and 2D animated short film about a woman coping with bad therapy, heartbreak, and blackheads.
An interesting work which manages to merge together 2D and 3D animation: it’s really nice to watch and very well-made. It is also great in its script, talking about mental health and, especially, bad therapy and bad advice. It’s quite funny and quite dramatic, on a tightrope between making you smile and getting you to reflect. BLACKHEADS also has a hopeful ending when the protagonist, after hallucinating about acne, finds out what’s better for her. The setting is pretty simple – just her intimate bedroom – and is perfect to represent what is going on around and inside her.
