Set in the Bronx, in the era of 1950s McCarthyism, everybody wants to look the same. Michael a gay, twenty-something-year old mouse, hides his true identity while he works as a tailor. When Isaac enters the shop one day he offers the escapism and love Michael craves.
The fact that THE FABRIC OF YOU has, as characters, two mice and that is animated, it doesn’t mean it is a sweet or funny fairytale. This short film has strong emotions, it is dramatic and has a great atmosphere from the first to the last second of its length. It tells a story of memories, loneliness, depression, with no need of rhetoric. The protagonist, Michael, has to come to terms with his loss, while he relives happy memories that are over. THE FABRIC OF YOU will touch you deeply. It does not come as a surprise that this short film has won both at Nevada City Film Festival and Palm Springs International ShortFest; it was also nominated at Glasgow Short Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and at BAFTA Awards 2019.
