Through loosing his father a divorced, young cowboy learns how to be one himself. A tale of forgiveness, in few words. Even in places where words don’t count for much, there are things that need to be said.
LEFTY/RIGHTY is full of beauty and tenderness, but as it is sweet, it is also heartbreaking. Both the actor portraying Lefty (the father) and Righty (the daughter) are really good, but the performance given by Lefty is just amazing. Great cinematography and photography for this short film, as is powerful its story. Despite being a short film, LEFTY/RIGHTY is epic cinema, made of unspoken words, silences, interior gazes. The director’s vision is wide, mature, evocative, the atmosphere is warm and immersive.
LEFTY/RIGHTY won a special mention at Amarcort Film Festival 2020 in the Aldina category, dedicated to cinema students, but it is not a surprised that it also won the Kodak Vision Award, the NYU Graduate Film Wasserman Directing Award, the National Board of Review Student Grant. It was also part of official selections in many festivals around the world, to name a few: Cork Film Festival, CAMERIMAGE and BOGOSHORTS.
