Grieving parents struggle with the loss of their daughter after a school shooting. An elegy on grief.
A heartbreaking short film, a punch in the stomach from the beginning to the end. Amazingly animated, it is remarkable the use of black and white, with colors appearing only for particular moments or objects, such as the American flag. No words are needed to express what happened and to imprint on screen the feeling of the parents. The grief is real, heavy, tangible. The concept, tone and idea are impressive. IF ANYTHING HAPPENS I LOVE YOU is outstanding, but we must say it has an especially annoying drawback: the music. Just one song appears in this short film but, when it does, it seems to be out of place, it almost ruins the tone of the narrative.
IF ANYTHING HAPPENS I LOVE YOU won numerous prizes and was in official selection in festivals around the whole world. It won the Festival Prize at Bucheon International Animation Film Festival, the Best Short Film – Animation at Edmonton International Film Festival, Best Film at IndieFEST Film Awards and many more, and was in competition in Palm Springs International ShortFest, Indy Shorts International Film Festival and others.
