A Group of refugees tries to reach themselves to a safe country in search for a better life. They pay a smuggler to convey them across the boarders in a fridge truck. However, the freezing temperature of the truck turns their hopes for a better future into a fierce struggle for survival.

SONG SPARROW is a really interesting work, using puppets do depict something of deep horror and darkness. Those puppets are amazingly animated and are used to represent refugees’ tragic condition in a film halfway between the horror and the social drama. But there is also hope underneath the fear. The story told with this great animated short is of stringent relevance, and the work has high-level animation, great visual and emotive impact.

SONG SPARROW won as best animated short film at Amarcort Film Festival 2020 in the Rex category; but it is obvious that such a good film has been selected and winner in numerous festivals. To name a few: Best Short Film – Generator +18 at Giffoni Film Festival, Best Short Film (IranFest section) at Sedicicorto International Film Festival; it was selected for Hollyshorts, Galway Film Fleadh, Flicker’s Rhode Island International Film Festival.
