During an extreme heat wave, a shy girl seeks refuge in an ice cream shop. But when she looks into the eyes of the charming vendor, she is on thin ice.
HEAT is something between comedy and horror, and is absolutely brilliant. The color scheme, the photography and lights are perfect, well studied and realised, totally in line with the sensation of heat itself, they almost make you sweat while you watch the short film. Everything is studied in detail, including props and costumes. A shy girl enters in an ice-cream shop and… Gets melted by the hot glances from the vendor. The special effects are magnificent, well-blended inside the film and looking real. The main character ends up on the floor, like a melted ice-cream ball fallen from the cone: the vendor collects her and puts her in the fridge exhibitor, then is ready to greet another client. A gorgeous, dark, sexy and funny work, all together. A pleasure to the eye, also a bit grotesque, it attracts the attention at 100% for every second of its (sadly) short duration. Its stunning look is totally unforgettable. HEAT is a perfect example of how a short film can be a all-round work without the need of lasting longer.
